Sequoia Community Initiatives (SCI) is a NYC non-profit organization founded in 1998. SCI provides shelter and services to special needs populations. SCI operates two transitional residences for chronically homeless men and women with histories of mental illness and substance abuse. SCI improves the lives of NYC’s homeless population through innovative programs such as Negotiating Life - a trademarked program created by SCI to teach clients hands-on skills necessary to navigate obstacles and through the maze of everyday situations – along with a full suite of training and advocacy programs. Other innovative SCI offerings include: a culinary arts training program, family reunification, open art studio and homelessness prevention/aftercare. Securing our clients a place to transform their lives, reconnect with family and become productive members of their communities is our ultimate goal.
